Vanilla, almonds, even cloves - a real fragrance combination in one spice, this is tonka bean. We get this hard cored seed spice, that measures just a few cms, from Brazil.
It is mainly used in the confectionery industry and cake shops, it is added to chocolates, biscuits, sponge cakes, or it is used freshly grated to flavour desserts served in a glass or coffee before serving.
Due to its aromatic smell, a small amount of it is enough, as recommended in its usage description. Because of its high coumarin content, a max. 70mg of tonka beans can be given.
Store in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight.
