When ground, cardamom makes the cakes really succulent (cardamom rolls are getting more and more popular), it is also sprinkled on bread dough and in the Scandinavian region it is also used to flavor sausages, minced meat and meatballs.
Interesting fact: two regions also bear the name of cardamom: the Cardamom Hills in India stretch along the Malabar coasts and real cardamom grows here, while not far from it, "false-cardamom" is also harvested in the Cardamom Mountains, Cambodia and Thailand.
