Caraway seed is one of the oldest spices in Europe. It has retained its dominance to this day, for example in Hungary it is in 4th place after salt, paprika and pepper.
It is used in the meat industry, canning industry, for breads and biscuits as well as for making soups.
It is an almost mandatory spice for difficult-to-digest foods, due to its digestive-stimulating effect.
Caraway seed is grown locally, so we get some from local growers.
Interesting fact: In Germany, a type of brandy made of grains is also flavoured with caraway seed.
Store in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight.
