Interesting fact: deliberate planting of cinnamon plantations in the mid-1700s led to huge quantities flowing into Europe, forcing Dutch traders to burn huge quantities to keep the price of cinnamon artificially high. Thus, in June 1760, the cinnamon was burned for 2 days and the smoke covered most of the Netherlands with a pleasant cloud of scents.
