Inca salt - the pink Fleur de Sel

Inca salt - the pink Fleur du Sel origin

This pink gourmet salt, also referred to as the gold of the Incas, comes from the salt lakes around the Maras in the Peruvian Andes. The salt, “hand-harvested” in the traditional way, is known worldwide for its exceptional physiological benefits as well as its taste effect.

Its color is due to the magnesium and iron content, and it also contains calcium and zinc. Inca, also known as Peruvian pink salt, is about eight times as salty as commonly used table salts, so much less is needed to flavor food. It helps to bring out the  natural taste of food and with the combined effect of other condiments, a fuller and richer aroma can be achieved by adding Inca pink salt.
